Ross Daniels suffers from a debilitating condition known as UPS – Uncontrollable Personality Syndrome. These characters possess his body at random times, taking over his comedy show, yet somehow, amazingly, they all meld together… with a few twists.The Transposed Man gives us an hilarious hour of character skits ranging from a homeless man with a penchant for putting his mattress down in the wrong places, to Batman’s co-dependent relationship with his butler.
Daniel’s comic prowess shines through his scripting and character shifting as he morphs into physically and vocally convincing characters who throw unpredictable comic jabs. Though clichés appear at times, the way Daniels handles them retains and mostly enhances their humour. You don’t know who he’ll poke fun at next, or how he’ll do it, and this is totally engaging. There aren’t any foreseeable lines, and the breadth of his ability to satirise is remarkable – no character is safe. Yet he does it without the need for offensiveness, which is refreshing. This is a man wholly confident in his abilities.
Much comic tension is created by making us wonder “Is he taking the piss, or taking the piss of taking the piss?” Either way, you’re laughing at his antics, and loving every moment.
